Appointment of New Elders

This coming Sunday we will be taking some time to celebrate and express our thanks to Brad & Jan Minton for their faithful service to this body as Elders on the Core Leadership Team. There will be a BBQ lunch afterwards which I hope you will stay to join in with. Within the bylaws of Jericho Road Church, elders on the Core Leadership Team (CLT) are required to step down after 4 years of service for at least a year. This is what has prompted this action. As i say to Brad & Jan, stepping away from the CLT does not mean you are no longer Elders in the church. The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable (see Romans 11:29). The bylaws also state that there must be a minimum of 3 elders serving on the CLT and so, to that end, I am delighted that Frank and Audrey Dol have agreed to step into these roles vacated by Brad & Jan. Frank and Audrey have been very dedicated and faithful servants here at Jericho Road with a wealth of experience and maturity. In many ways they have already been serving as elders and we will now be more formally recognizing this. This decision has been ratified by the church council (again according to the bylaws as this is happening mid-year between AGMs). We will take some time on Sunday, September 4th, to pray for them as a community.

As you have opportunity, I hope that you will take some time to personally thank Brad & Jan for all that they have given to us, but please don't worry, I don't think that they are going anywhere! Also, please welcome Frank & Audrey in their new role, encourage them and please pray for them. Pray also for us as a leadership as we go through this time of transition and get used to working together.
